#LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Captain Sanjay Chauhan, Shaurya Chakra (P), 16 RAJ RIF, made the supreme sacrifice on the night of 28-29 October in 1994.

The gallant #IndianBraves eliminated a large number of terrorists at Chokibal, Kupwara, J&K, before being surrounded, captured, and tortured.

In October 1994 Capt Chauhan’s unit was deployed around Chokibal area, of Kupwara, J&K. The unit received information about the presence of a large gathering of terrorists at Lachimpora village of Wariban forest.

Capt Chauhan was tasked to plan a strike on the hideout.

As per the plan, on the night of 28-29 October, he moved with his team, in disguise to neutralise the militants, while a reserve group of soldiers was on standby to act if the need arose.

Upon reaching the general area, they managed to infiltrate the group of militants, but their identity couldn't be concealed for long.

In a quick action, this small team killed a few terrorists but were greatly outnumbered by the rest. Due to the evolving situation, the reserve troops couldn't reach on time, and soon Capt Chauhan and his small team were surrounded by the terrorists.

They fought till their last round, and the last man till captured, tortured, and mutilated in custody.

Despite the heavy odds, Capt Sanjay Chauhan and his three other men fought valiantly neutralising eight terrorists and injuring 2 others, against the most adverse circumstances and laid down their lives for the nation.

#LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Capt Sanjay Chauhan was awarded #ShauryaChakra, posthumously.

Remember the #IndianBrave - his service and supreme sacrifice for the Nation always.🏵️
